Valentine, was a Roman bishop, who, despite the emperor of his kingdom forbidding weddings, in order to facilitate the enlistment of young people in the army, continued to celebrate the ceremonies in secret.
Unfortunately he was discovered and ended up being arrested and sentenced to death.
While in prison, many of the young people he married and still believed in love, passed him notes and flowers.
Among them was a blind young woman, the jailer's daughter, who obtained permission to visit him.
They ended up falling in love and miraculously the young woman regained her sight.
The bishop wrote a love letter to the young woman, with the signature: her Valentine, an expression still used today.
After his conviction, Valentine was beheaded on February 14, 270.
Despite the unfortunate ending, it became a date for the celebration of love!
